Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Whooston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leo Denis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid body kick from Whooston.

Denis moves into range and clinches up with Whooston.

Denis turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Whooston manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Whooston works his way to full guard. Good work.
Denis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Whooston looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Denis has picked Whooston up and slammed him! Whooston can't keep hold of the triangle and Denis manages to pass to side control!

Denis looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Whooston is not content to let Denis control the position.
Whooston striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Whooston is looking to regain half guard here but Denis keeps moving and retains side control.
Whooston looks to move to half guard but instead Denis has passed into mount! Damn!

It looks like Peter Whooston has been cut.
Denis cracks Whooston with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Oh Whooston is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whooston wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Denis.
Denis trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Denis looking to ground and pound but Whooston is blocking nicely.

Denis sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Denis throwing strikes here but Whooston is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Denis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Whooston. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Denis has control of Whooston's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Whooston regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Denis throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Denis moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Whooston has worked his arm free - good work by Whooston!

Jeez, Peter Whooston's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
