Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Calico James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Rising (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Calico James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maximus Rising!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rising fails to land with a series of punches.
Rising takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Rising misses with a two punch combination.
James tests Rising's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rising shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. James defends it nicely.
James throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rising tries to close the distance and clinch up but James swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rising throws a head kick that misses.
James throws a body punch but Rising moves out of range.
Rising changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Rising manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
James works the jab nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rising throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
James looks to land a right hand but Rising moved out of range.
Rising misses with a body kick.
Rising moves out of range of the strikes.
Rising fails with a takedown attempt.
Calico James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maximus Rising.
James looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rising walks into a stiff left hand from James.
James changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rising throws a hook but James avoids it easily.
Rising shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
James lands with a straight right. Rising didn't see that one coming.
James blocks a head kick by Rising.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rising was well out of range. Poor timing from James.
Rising on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Rising walks into a straight right hand from James.
Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Rising on that attempt.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

James working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
James content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rising is trying to buck James off.

Both fighters take a look at the clock.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James moves into full mount!
Rising gets back to half guard.
Still in half guard, James seems content to control.
Rising is trying to maintain the position but James is very close to passing his half guard.

James thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rising's head.
James looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Rising gets back to full guard.
James stopping the sweep attempt from Rising.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Calico James dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rising gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rising doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting James counter with a right hand.
Maximus Rising is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
James dips to his left and cracks Rising with an uppercut!
Rising shoots and misses

and James counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
James drops an elbow to the side of Rising's head.

Rising looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
James seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Rising avoiding damage under a succession of punches from James.
James stops Rising from getting back to his feet.
Rising is trying to get back to full guard.
Rising is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
James is pressing down on Rising's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rising is holding on for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rising shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and James counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Calico James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maximus Rising.
Rising is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
James lands a jab.
Rising tries for a takedown but James circles away easily

and James counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
James might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
James prevents Rising from getting back to his feet.
James is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
James has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
James is working Rising over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rising is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

James successfully pulls guard.
Rising tries to stand but James is controlling from the bottom.
James trying to keep a closed guard but Rising is proving a slippery customer.

James looking for a guillotine here but Rising defends easily.
Rising wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rising is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
James tries to land a sweep but no joy.
James manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Calico James dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


James misses with a wild body shot.
Rising wants to clinch

and James counters with a single leg into guard. Rising didn't expect that.
Rising is adopting a defensive guard.
James postures up and lands a big shot to Rising's brow.
James seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Rising keeping full guard, as James tries to pass.

Rising avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rising wants to stand and escape but James is having none of it.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but Rising is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
James wants to stand but Rising has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rising looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there.

Rising throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! James escapes and throws Rising's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Calico James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
James tries to move to mount but Rising blocks the move with his legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rising tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and James counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rising!
Rising is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rising taking shots to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rising is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
James is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Rising takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rising wants to hold on but James pushes him away.

James working for a submission but Rising is keeping him at bay.
Rising wants to control but James is having none of it.
Rising sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well, if James is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Rising is trying to maintain the position but James is very close to passing his half guard.
Rising is looking to improve his position.
James passes to side control.
James wants to control but Rising is keeping him busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Calico James showed his dominance in that final round.
Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
