PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Hutch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hutch kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is DMX - Aint No Sunshine. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hutch looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maxwell is fending him off so far but Hutch persists. Nope, Maxwell circles away and we're back to standing.

Maxwell moves into the clinch successfully.
Maxwell is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Maxwell turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Hutch takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

It looks like Eric Hutch has been cut.
Hutch gets back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hutch wants to get back to his feet.

Maxwell with a flurry of punches that miss.
Maxwell wanted to stand there but Hutch had control of the position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Maxwell can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hutch is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hutch is breathing heavily.
Maxwell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hutch is controlling him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Maxwell lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Eric Hutch's cut is getting worse.

Maxwell closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Maxwell lands in his opponent's guard.

Maxwell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hutch has his foot on Maxwell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maxwell works his way back into a safe position though.

Eric Hutch's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Maxwell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Maxwell lands a huge takedown. Hutch is out but the ref is slow to react and Maxwell lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Hutch lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
