Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Just (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Just comes into the arena with Big Time by: Peter Gabriel blaring out of the sound system. Peterson has chosen Even Flow by Pearl Jam as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Just!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Peterson.
Peterson wants to clinch.
Just gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Peterson counters with a takedown into side control.
Peterson advances to mount.
Just is looking to improve his position but Peterson isn't that keen on the idea.
Peterson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Poor strikes thrown by Peterson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Peterson unloads with some shots from mount but Just bucks and avoids them well.

The referee warns Just that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Just tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Peterson looking to control but Just is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Just is desperately trying to improve his position but Peterson has a good base and remains in mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peterson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Just controls Peterson momentarily but Peterson frees himself.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Just has his foot on Peterson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Peterson works his way back into a safe position though.

Peterson is pulling down on Just's head. It's preventing any offense from Just, at least for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Just wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Peterson, who protects the arm well.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Peterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Just paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Peterson counters by clinching up.
Peterson is working for takedown but Just is calmly controlling the position for now.
Peterson has had enough of the clinch but Just keeps him there for the moment.
Peterson tries to pull guard but Just won't allow it.
Peterson will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Just up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peterson struggles to land a body shot inside as Just controls his hands.
Peterson trying to control the position but instead, Just has worked for underhooks and has pushed Peterson into the cage.
Peterson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Just fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Peter Just seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Peterson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Just manages to avoid it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Peterson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Just.
Just is trying to drag Peterson to the mat but Peterson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Peterson wants a takedown.
Just goes for a takedown attempt but Peterson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Just. Peterson does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Peterson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Just!
Peterson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Just. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Just is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Just tries to lock up and control but Peterson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Just manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Peterson trying to control the action but Just is working from the bottom.

Peterson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Just is just riding it out for now. Peterson eventually gives up the hold.

Peterson wants to advance to full mount but Just doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Just escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peterson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Just bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Peterson's guard.
Just looking to pass the guard.
Peterson is trying to keep Just in close.

Eric Peterson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
