PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Pahkina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pahkina has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pekka Pahkina!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stephen White!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pahkina leaves White with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

White has taken the fight to the clinch.
White is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
White drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Pahkina gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Pekka Pahkina has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephen White.
White content to slow the pace in the clinch.

White ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. White no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
White looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pahkina is one step ahead there.

White is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

White stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
A left and a right from Pahkina both land. Nice combination.

White closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

White escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Stephen White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

White shoots in for a takedown but Pahkina shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
White showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pahkina.
White shoots in and drives through. Pahkina sprawls well.
White shoots for a takedown but Pahkina saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
White shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pahkina as he avoids it easily.
White takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A nice combination there by Pahkina.


It looks like Stephen White has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pahkina throws a combination but it was largely blocked by White.
White shoots in but Pahkina avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pahkina swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

White pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A left and a right from Pahkina both land. Nice combination.

White shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pahkina as he avoids it easily.
White throws a body punch but Pahkina moves out of range.
White shoots in for a takedown but Pahkina shows good takedown defense.

White looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

White throws a head kick but Pahkina moves out of range.

Pahkina looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

White attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Pahkina displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from White.
White shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pahkina pinned against the cage. Pahkina gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pekka Pahkina is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

White shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. White showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

White thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

White jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pahkina walks away with a smile on his face. White gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pahkina throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck White on the side of the head.
White misses with a head kick.
White throws a leg kick which misses Pahkina's front leg but catches the back leg as Pahkina tries to avoid it.
White will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pahkina throws a series of punches but White moves out of range.

Pahkina tries to keep at a distance but White has taken the fight into the clinch.
White is working for takedown but Pahkina is calmly controlling the position for now.
Pahkina blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

White pulls Pahkina into guard.
White lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pahkina!

Pahkina is in a horrible position here. White smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
White landing strikes from the mount.
White lands a nice shot to the head.
White controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

White uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pahkina.

White looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pahkina is fending him off so far but White persists. Nope, Pahkina circles away and we're back to standing.

White shoots in and bounces Pahkina off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

White gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

White tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pahkina paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Pahkina loads up on a big right hand but White slips the punch.
White throws a head kick but Pahkina moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from White. Pahkina does a little dance to reset his feet.

White closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

White stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Pahkina to get to his feet.

Pahkina misses with the combination.
White shoots in but Pahkina avoids the takedown attempt easily.

White bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

White looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Pahkina is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White taking a breather here.
Let's hope that White has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
