The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dicksson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from rua.
Dicksson closes the distance and clinches up with rua, looking for a takedown. Dicksson pushes rua against the cage but rua circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Dicksson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dicksson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dicksson lands in his opponent's guard.
rua has momentary wrist control but Dicksson slips an elbow through the middle.

rua had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dicksson defends it easily.

Dicksson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Dicksson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of rua is proving hard to escape from.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as rua holds on and takes a little breather.
rua is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dicksson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dicksson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dicksson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
rua tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dicksson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

rua content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Dicksson has locked up a guillotine! Dicksson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? rua is holding on here and Dicksson must be using up a lot of energy. rua has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Dicksson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
