PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diego Cortisso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cortisso comes into the arena with Pidzama Porno - Zabilem go blaring out of the sound system. Sims comes into a darkened arena with his song building. YMCA kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortisso misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Sims is keen to just control but Cortisso is a slippery customer.

Sims fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cortisso sprawls well initially but Sims persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cortisso pushes Sims off looking to stand but Sims dives back in and keeps control.
Sims lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Sims looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cortisso is looking to improve his position.

David Sims showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sims can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well Sims has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
