Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joao Pequeno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Gull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pequeno kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Cão da Morte by Mão Morta. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pequeno cracks Gull with an open hand slap.
Pequeno throws out a leg kick but Gull moves out of range and Pequeno only half commits.
Gull throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
A lazy left from Gull finds it's target.
Gull misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pequeno throws a chopping leg kick but Gull manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Pequeno lands a nice shot that snaps Gull's head back.
A nice inside leg kick there by Pequeno. That's going to slow Gull down.
Pequeno fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Gull checks it well.
Pequeno tries a low kick but Gull avoids it.
Gull looks to throw the jab but Pequeno is out of range.

Some bone on bone action there as Gull checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Gull counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gull is looking to work some ground and pound but Pequeno has wrist control.

Gull has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Gull takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pequeno is squirming around, avoiding Gull's attempts to control the action.

Pequeno tries to lock up and control but Gull gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Pequeno wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Gull.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gull has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pequeno's face.
Gull lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Gull swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pequeno is now in Gull's guard. A big mistake from Gull there, giving up the dominant position!
Pequeno stands and steps away. Gull gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Joao Pequeno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pequeno throws a leg kick that misses.
Gull connects with a crisp jab.
The fighters circling - Gull throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Gull moves out of range of the body kick.
A punch lands to the side of Pequeno 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Gull scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Gull has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Pequeno finds it's way round the side to connect with Gull's head.
Pequeno misses with a low kick as Gull jumps back.
Pequeno lands with a thumping leg kick.
Gull just misses with a punch to the body.
Pequeno throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pequeno feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gull's calf.
Pequeno instigates a clinch.
Gull tries for a takedown but Pequeno manages to get underhooks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gull is looking to break free of the clinch but Pequeno has double underhooks.
Pequeno lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Gull.
Pequeno keeps control of Gull as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pequeno takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gull cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Pequeno tries to hold on but Gull pushes him away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pequeno is looking to improve his position but Gull isn't that keen on the idea.

Gull goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pequeno turns into him and now he's in Gull's guard.

Eli Gull showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Gull throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pequeno tries a head kick but it misses.
Good leg kick by Pequeno there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Gull misses with a hook. Pequeno ducked under it nicely.
Gull throws a body punch but Pequeno moves out of range.
Gull fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pequeno looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Pequeno is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gull.
Pequeno plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Pequeno keeps Gull at a distance using the push kick.

and Gull connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joao Pequeno.
I think Gull has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
