Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Barmus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes into the arena with All Eyez On Me by 2Pac blaring out of the sound system. Barmus has chosen Never Scared as his entrance music. Charles Barmus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barmus fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Barmus persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jackson tries to kick Barmus off but Barmus keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Barmus stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Barmus postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jackson looks a forlorn figure.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Barmus lands a jab-cross combination.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jackson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Barmus moves into the clinch.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Barmus just misses with a elbow thrown towards Jackson's brow.
Jackson wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xavier Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barmus is looking to control Jackson's arms but Jackson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Barmus has his back to the cage.
Barmus lands a nice knee to the body.

Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Barmus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jackson rushes Barmus and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Barmus has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jackson cracks a nice hook into Barmus's ribs.

and Jackson counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Barmus down! Jackson is looking to finish but Barmus is intelligently defending himself.

Barmus is rocked!
Jackson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Barmus is still in real trouble! Can Jackson finish him?
Jackson stands up over Barmus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jackson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Barmus's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jackson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Jackson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Barmus seems to have recovered his senses.
Barmus keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.
Barmus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Barmus gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jackson wants to stand but Barmus is controlling the position.
Jackson is striking from the bottom but Barmus uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barmus connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
