PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matiss Briedis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edgars Grundmanis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matiss Briedis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edgars Grundmanis!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grundmanis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Briedis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Briedis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Briedis showed some decent athleticism there.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matiss Briedis.
I think Grundmanis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
