PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Makosa Michinoku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michinoku has chosen Primavera by Ludovico Einaudi as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Makosa Michinoku!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michinoku tries to score a power double leg takedown but Paul sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Michinoku somewhat.
Paul throws a combination. Michinoku tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Makosa Michinoku has been cut.
Paul with a hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A jab from Paul misses.
Paul will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Michinoku moves out of range as Paul strikes.
Michinoku closes the distance and clinches up with Paul, looking for a takedown. Michinoku pushes Paul against the cage but Paul circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Paul misses with a series of wild punches.
Paul cracks Michinoku with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Michinoku shoots in for a takedown but Paul shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Paul lands a nice hook to Michinoku's body. Michinoku takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Michinoku is trying desperately to land a takedown but Paul is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Michinoku.

Paul uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Michinoku has time to react.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Michinoku is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Paul defends it well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Michinoku might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Paul kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

John Paul showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Paul, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
