Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Damien LeBanner!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contreras lands with a nice body punch.
Contreras fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Contreras.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Contreras. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Contreras decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Contreras is keen to just control but LeBanner is a slippery customer.

LeBanner looks like he's trying to stand up.
LeBanner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Contreras. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Contreras wants to work for an arm triangle but LeBanner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
LeBanner leaves Contreras with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Contreras is breathing heavily.
A clash of legs there as LeBanner blocks the low kick.

Contreras shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
LeBanner wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Contreras is stalling here. LeBanner is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Contreras seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and LeBanner has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Contreras regains half guard.
Contreras works his way to full guard. Good work.
Contreras has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Contreras looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
LeBanner thows a big elbow that misses.
LeBanner with a flurry of punches that miss.
Contreras controls LeBanner momentarily but LeBanner frees himself.

LeBanner content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Contreras trying to control the position.
Contreras is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because LeBanner is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
LeBanner distracts Contreras with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Contreras shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in LeBanner's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

LeBanner looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Contreras!

Contreras pushes LeBanner off looking to stand but LeBanner dives back in and keeps control.

Contreras escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. LeBanner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Contreras wants to stand and escape but LeBanner is having none of it.
LeBanner postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Contreras is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Contreras has his foot on LeBanner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. LeBanner works his way back into a safe position though.

Contreras looking for a guillotine here but LeBanner defends easily.

Contreras looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! LeBanner has picked Contreras up and slammed him! Contreras can't keep hold of the triangle and LeBanner manages to pass to side control!
Contreras takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Contreras takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Contreras regains half guard.
Contreras trying to hold on to LeBanner's head to control him but LeBanner postures up.

Contreras gets full guard.
LeBanner is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
LeBanner makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

LeBanner throws a big right hand that misses.
LeBanner is in close to Contreras's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Contreras has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think LeBanner should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Contreras has tightened it up now! LeBanner should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
