PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Caleb Cohen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chip Chipperson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Caleb Cohen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chip Chipperson!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cohen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Chipperson keeping full guard, as Cohen tries to pass.
Cohen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Chipperson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cohen is one step ahead there.

Cohen drops back looking for a leg! Chipperson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chipperson manages to kick Cohen off! Cohen jumps back into Chipperson's guard.
Chipperson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cohen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chipperson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Cohen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cohen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Chipperson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cohen shoots in but Chipperson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cohen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chipperson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cohen somewhat.
Cohen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chipperson pinned against the cage. Chipperson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Caleb Cohen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cohen shoots in looking for a takedown. Chipperson tries to sprawl out of it but Cohen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chipperson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cohen shoots in but no luck this time.
Cohen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cohen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chipperson sprawls well. Chipperson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cohen gets slowly back to his feet.
Cohen moves out of range of the body kick.

Cohen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Chipperson sprawls well initially but Cohen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Cohen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cohen is breathing heavily.
Chipperson wants to get back to full guard.
Chipperson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Chipperson wants to improve his position but Cohen is controlling well.

Chipperson looking for submissions off his back.

Cohen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cohen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Chipperson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cohen is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cohen closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chipperson did well to prevent Cohen getting side control.
Chipperson wants to control but Cohen is keeping busy.
Cohen is looking to take a break and control but Chipperson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cohen prevents Chipperson from improving his position.

Cohen wants to work for an arm triangle but Chipperson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Cohen seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Chipperson is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
