The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Staal. No joy for Silva on that attempt.
Staal swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.
Staal looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Staal scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Silva doesn't seem bothered though.
Silva scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like John Staal has been cut.
Staal tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Staal.
A slapping leg kick lands for Staal.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Staal lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The fighters circle momentarily. Staal darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
A combination from Silva does no damage.
Staal cracks the inside of Silva's front leg.
Staal connects with a high kick.
Staal keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Staal lands with a shot to the body.

Staal throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.

Staal closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

Silva tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Silva looks gassed!
Staal digs a right hand underneath Silva's ribcage. Silva let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Silva takes an elbow to the temple.
Staal utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Silva takes an elbow to the forehead.

Silva is rocked!
Staal creates some distance and fires off a vicious elbow that drops Silva! He pounces and finishes the fight with more strikes! Nice KO for Staal.
