Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Filipe Melo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vince Bartone!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bartone's corner calls for a 1-2. Bartone obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Bartone throws a series of punches but Melo moves out of range.
Bartone goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Bartone avoids the head kick by Melo.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Melo lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bartone has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bartone and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Melo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Melo throws a head kick that misses.
Melo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Melo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bartone to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Bartone got a little sloppy there for a moment and Melo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bartone has managed to get both his arms back between Melo's legs - danger averted.
Bartone stands up over Melo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Melo looking for subs off his back but Bartone has passed one foot through into half guard.

Bartone is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Bartone lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Bartone is working for a submission of some sort.
Bartone has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Melo tries to roll over but Bartone keeps him under control.

Melo won't allow Bartone to pass to mount.
Melo is not content to let Bartone control the position.
Melo is looking for a sweep. Bartone is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bartone has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Bartone trying to control but Melo is having none of it.
Melo is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Bartone has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Melo's face.

Melo can't escape the position.
Bartone can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Melo is looking to escape.
Melo is bucking up trying to escape but Bartone cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Bartone with shots to the head and body - Melo looks very uncomfortable down there.
Bartone lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Melo is looking to improve his position but Bartone isn't that keen on the idea.
BOOM! Bartone connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Melo is squirming around, avoiding Bartone's attempts to control the action.

Bartone has control of Melo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Melo regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Vince Bartone dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Melo throws a head kick that misses.
Melo throws a leg kick but Bartone sees it coming and moves out of range.
Melo is looking to clinch but Bartone is avoiding it.
Bartone blocks the body kick.
Bartone misses with a looping right.
Melo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bartone checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Melo tries to clinch up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A chopping leg kick lands by Bartone.
Bartone swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Melo ducks under a wild hook from Bartone.

Melo throws a sloppy head kick and Bartone moves out of range easily.

Bartone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bartone cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Bartone lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Oh Melo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bartone is landing with some decent strikes but Melo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Melo seems to have got his legs back now.
Bartone scoring with strikes but Melo is staying in there.
Melo is desperately trying to improve his position but Bartone has a good base and remains in mount.
Melo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Bartone working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
