Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Dwyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Saint Michaels!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Michaels shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dwyer's guard.
Michaels looking to pass the guard.
Michaels wants to stand but Dwyer has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Michaels wants to control from the top but Dwyer keeps moving.
Dwyer wants to stand up but Michaels is controlling him.
Dwyer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Michaels's guard.
Dwyer content to stall in guard here.
Michaels avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Michaels looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Michaels looking for subs off his back but Dwyer has passed one foot through into half guard.

Dwyer stands up out of the half guard.

Dwyer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Michaels sprawls well initially but Dwyer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Dwyer escapes and gets back to his feet.

so Dwyer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dwyer is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Michaels manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dwyer is desperately trying to improve his position but Michaels has a good base and remains in mount.
Michaels really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dwyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dwyer gets back to full guard.
Dwyer throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Dwyer tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Dwyer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Dwyer is wriggling around but Michaels manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Michaels stalling.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dwyer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Michaels sprawls well. Michaels wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dwyer gets slowly back to his feet.
Michael Dwyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dwyer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dwyer dives in and grabs Michaels's left leg, looking for a takedown. Michaels pushes down on Dwyer's head and hops out.

Dwyer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dwyer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Michaels wants to sweep but no luck.

Michaels wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dwyer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Dwyer dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Michaels has closed the distance and engaged Dwyer in a clinch.

Michaels escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Michaels tries to clinch up.

Michaels feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dwyer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Michaels's guard.

Dwyer stands up from Michaels's guard - Dwyer perhaps looking for a knockout.

Dwyer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Michaels doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dwyer.

Dwyer gets to his feet - Michaels follows without any prompting.
Michaels is looking to clinch.

Michaels rushes Dwyer and presses him up against the cage.
Michaels jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dwyer walks away with a smile on his face. Michaels gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Dwyer fails with a takedown attempt.

Michaels moves into the clinch.

Dwyer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dwyer looks to clinch
and Michaels counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Dwyer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Dwyer wants to take a breather but Michaels is having none of it.

Dwyer looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Dwyer landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Dwyer passes into side control, despite Michaels's attempt to control the position.
Michaels is not content to let Dwyer control the position.
Dwyer misses with the ground and pound.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Michaels tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dwyer wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Michaels makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Dwyer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Michaels is trying to defend but Dwyer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Michaels is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dwyer is pressing down on Michaels's thigh, looking to free his foot. Michaels is holding on for now.

Dwyer seems to be looking for submissions.

Dwyer tries for a takedown but Michaels circles away easily
and Michaels finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dwyer wants to control the pace but Michaels is squirming around nicely.
Michaels is in a horrible position here. Dwyer smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Dwyer is landing with some decent strikes but Michaels is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dwyer is on top in guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dwyer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
