Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has chosen Sick Puppies-Youre going down as his entrance music. Phil Davis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Teddy Bass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Davis!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bass scores with a jab to the body.
A jab from Davis misses.
Bass misses with an uppercut.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Bass slaps away a takedown attempt from Davis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Davis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A swing and a miss from Bass.
Bass scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Davis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bass is fending him off so far but Davis persists. Nope, Bass circles away and we're back to standing.
Davis takes a jab right on the kisser.
Davis lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Bass misses with a two punch combination.
Davis shoots in and drives through. Bass sprawls well.
Teddy Bass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Davis.
Davis looks gassed!
Bass misses the jab.
Davis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bass slaps away a takedown attempt from Davis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Davis doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Bass lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Bass slips a straight right by Davis.
Bass feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Davis's calf.
Davis walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Bass listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Bass throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bass showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Davis.
Davis shoots for a double leg takedown but Bass sprawls well. He's pushed Davis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bass.
Bass connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Bass slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Davis looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Bass ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Davis takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Bass scores with a jab to the body.
Bass throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bass's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Bass duly obliges.


Davis is rocked!
Davis walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Davis is still on wobbly legs! Can Bass finish him?
Davis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Bass closes the distance and clinches.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bass taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Bass gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Davis seems to have recovered his senses.
Davis drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bass stalling in the clinch but Davis improves position.
A right handed body shot lands from Bass.
Bass stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Teddy Bass.
Bass clobbers Davis with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice cross by Bass.
Davis takes one to the chin there.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bass.
Bass controlling the position.
Bass works to advance to full mount. Davis defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Davis can't escape the position.
Bass controlling the pace for now.

Bass is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Davis tries for a takedown but Bass circles away easily
and Bass counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bass cracks the inside of Davis's front leg.

A left lands for Bass.
Davis looks to land a combination but Bass avoids it well.
Phil Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bass lands with a straight right. Davis didn't see that one coming.
Bass connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Davis is trying desperately to land a takedown but Bass is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Davis.
Bass changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Bass cracks Davis with a right hand to the side of the head.

Bass gets a clinch.
Bass has Davis pushed against the cage.
Davis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bass pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bass manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Bass breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bass connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Bass throws a series of punches but Davis moves out of range.

Bass misses with a straight left.
Bass cracks Davis with a right hand to the side of the head.
Bass lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Davis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bass sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Davis somewhat.
Bass connects with a right hand. Davis shakes it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Davis takes a jab right on the kisser.
Bass lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Davis with a poor takedown
and Bass connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Davis takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Davis throws a looping overhand right but Bass ducks down to avoid it.
Bass throws a shot to the body.

Bass clinches.
Bass prevents the takedown attempt.

Bass's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bass uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Davis has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Davis there as he acknowledges the shot.
Bass is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Bass lands with an overhand left.
Davis looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Davis takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Davis fails with the takedown
and Bass counters with a straight right hand.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bass shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Bass controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Teddy Bass dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bass fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Davis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bass works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Bass uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Davis.
Bass stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Bass closes the distance and clinches.
Davis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bass pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bass is struggling to control the position.

Bass breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bass scores with a shot to the body.
Davis moves forwards but Bass connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Bass works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Davis moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Davis takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The crowd cheers as Bass lands an impressive looking overhand right. Davis doesn't seem phased though.

Davis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bass to the mat! Bass manages to get full guard.
Davis won't allow Bass to sweep him here.
Bass pulls Davis in close to prevent any damage.
Bass is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bass wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Davis tries to free his leg and advance position but Bass is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bass has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Bass is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Davis is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Bass has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Davis is looking to defend but Bass has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Davis! Bass pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Davis taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Teddy Bass!
