Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeffrey Lui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David King!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lui pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Horrible takedown by Lui or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad.
King tries to clinch there but Lui circles away.
Lui fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lui drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
King is looking to clinch but Lui is avoiding it.
Lui lands a jab to the nose.
King uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lui.
Lui throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
King lands a left and a right that sends Lui crashing to the canvas! King dives into mount looking to finish!


Lui is rocked!

King working for a guillotine from mount but Lui is in no mood to give up.
Oh Lui is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
King fails to move to back control.
King throws some wild stikes that Lui manages to avoid easily.

King goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Lui turns into him and now he's in King's guard.

King is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lui seems to have got his legs back now.
King looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Lui puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Lui performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
King tries to roll over but Lui keeps him under control.
Lui is taking a breather. King says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

King looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Lui seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
King is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lui's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lui's back!

King controlling well, preventing Lui from escaping the position.
Lui just trying to survive but King is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

King is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lui is defending well though. King let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lui rolls, trying to escape but King keeps control of the position.

King is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Lui defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Lui trying to control the position but King manages to sink in the hooks.
Lui breaks King's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

King looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

King has an active guard here but Lui has managed to pass into half guard.
King tries to get to full guard but Lui has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David King dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lui throws a left and a right that both miss
and King counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
King tries to close the distance and clinch but Lui swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
King rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lui moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

King moves into the clinch.
King jumps guard but Lui stands there with King around his waist. King gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lui wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but King has him pressed against the cage.
Lui on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Lui tries to break the clinch but King is controlling the position.
Lui blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Lui tightens his grip and picks King up, before dumping him to the ground. King manages to land in guard.
Lui controls from within his opponent's guard.

King looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

King is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lui avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
King tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King has an active guard here but Lui has managed to pass into half guard.

Lui decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Lui throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and King counters with a nice leg kick.
Lui lands with a cross.
Jeffrey Lui seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lui lands a jab to the head.
King wants to clinch.
Lui throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around King's waist but King gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lui off to one side.

King blocks a jab.
Lui closes the distance and clinches up with King, looking for a takedown. Lui pushes King against the cage but King circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lui lands a head shot.
Lui throws a combination but it was largely blocked by King.
Lui thows a left - swing and a miss!
King lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lui backs up against the cage.
King looks to land a combination but Lui avoids it well.
The fight stays on the outside here - King looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
King is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Lui swats away the attempt to clinch by King.
Lui scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

King wants to clinch.
King moves in looking to clinch but Lui pushes him off.
Jeffrey Lui is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lui misses with a double jab

and King counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by King.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Lui.
A short body shot lands from Lui as the two fighters clinch.
King looking to stall.
King with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Come on King - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Lui wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Lui scores with a shot to the side of King's head.
Nice elbow from King.
King is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
King seems frustrated at his inability to get double underhooks.
King throws a punch but it's blocked by Lui.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
King stalling in the clinch but Lui improves position.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by David King.
King showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lui.
King dodges the punch combination from Lui.
King is looking to clinch.
Lui lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Lui slow jab from King misses its intended target.
Lui swings widly with a right hand

and King moves into the clinch.

Lui manages to break the clinch.
Lui throws a combination that misses

and King holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Lui is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
King misses with a knee strike.
King lands with a left to the head.
King lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Lui tries for a takedown but King manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeffrey Lui. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
King is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jeffrey Lui will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Lui thuds a left hand into King's body.
Lui misses with a series of wild punches.
King has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lui finds it's way round the side to connect with King's head.
King wants to clinch.
King wants to clinch up but Lui keeps it at a distance.
Lui connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between King's hands.
Lui shoots in and drives through. King sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lui throws a nice looking combination but King bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
King is looking to clinch.
Lui misses with a hook
and King counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Lui rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting King counter with a right hand.
Lui swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and King counters with a two punch combo.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King is looking to clinch but Lui is avoiding it.
Lui throws a combination that misses

and King counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Lui is trying is best to control the position here.
King is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Lui looking for a sweep. Not yet Lui, not yet.
Lui keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
Lui wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Lui has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Lui lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for King!

King is looking to get to half guard.
Lui looking to control and managing it successfully.
Lui prevents King from getting the reversal.
King is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lui controlling the pace for now.

King really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Lui lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
King is working to get back to half guard.
Lui sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
King taking shots to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Lui tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jeffrey Lui overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
King wants to hold on but Lui pushes him away.
Lui controlling his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to David King.
I think King has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
