Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dean Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ilkka Hynninen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ilkka Hynninen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dean Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ilkka Hynninen!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hynninen takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Wright is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hynninen's half guard.

Wright is looking for a kimura but Hynninen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wright to get the leverage.
Hynninen is doing well to control the position and prevent Wright from advancing to side control.

Wright wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Hynninen uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Hynninen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wright can pounce on him.

Wright throws a shot to the body.
Hynninen takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Wright moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Wright throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hynninen was covering up waiting for the punch and Wright finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wright tries to free his leg and advance position but Hynninen is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hynninen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wright swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Wright is looking to stand up but Hynninen isn't so interested in that idea.

Wright pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Wright counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Wright lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Wright lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wright fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hynninen on the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Wright shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hynninen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Wright slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Wright closes the distance and clinches up with Hynninen, looking for a takedown. Wright pushes Hynninen against the cage but Hynninen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hynninen's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Hynninen misses with a takedown attempt - Wright sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dean Wright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ilkka Hynninen.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wright lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hynninen at a distance.

Hynninen is pulling down on Wright's head. It's preventing any offense from Wright, at least for the moment.

Wright would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Wright wants to stand and escape but instead Hynninen has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Hynninen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Wright is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wright knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hynninen on the ground.
