PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between King Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isaac Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Isaac Moore told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, King Johnson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Isaac Moore!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson keeps the fight on the outside.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Johnson looking to pass the guard.
Moore looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there.
Johnson passes Moore's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson wants to work for an arm triangle but Moore is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Johnson is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Moore has managed to free his arm - good work.

Johnson seems to be looking for submissions.
Johnson wants to pass to mount but Moore is defending the position.
Johnson is thwarting Moore's attempts to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Moore actively working from the bottom here.
Moore is trying to maintain the position but Johnson is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Moore misses with a head kick.
Moore tries to clinch up.
Moore tries to clinch but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Moore, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Moore against the cage but Moore circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Moore ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

and Johnson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Johnson.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Johnson is working hard here to advance position.
Moore looking for a sweep. Not yet Moore, not yet.
Moore is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Johnson throwing strikes but missing.
Moore throwing short punches from the bottom.
Johnson advances to half guard.

Johnson is working for a submission of some sort.
Moore throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Moore defends it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Johnson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Johnson passes to side control.
Moore is looking for a sweep.
Johnson wants to control but Moore is keeping him busy.

Johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Johnson trying to control the position but Moore is working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moore tries to escape but Johnson is in control.

Johnson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Johnson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Johnson advances to mount.
Moore has given up his back. Will we see Johnson going for some submissions?
Moore wants to escape the position.

Johnson is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Johnson keeps control of the position as Moore tries to break free.
Johnson gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Johnson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Moore changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Moore has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Moore throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Johnson crumples to the floor and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Isaac Moore!
Isaac Moore is the new welterweight champion!
