Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ita Ipava!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Atrell!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atrell throws a nice outside leg kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ipava.
Ipava walks forward, straight into a front kick from Atrell.
Ipava shoots in but Atrell avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Ipava misses with a takedown attempt - Atrell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ipava crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Atrell - the referee stops the clock and Ipava gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Atrell. Ipava manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Ipava dives in and grabs Atrell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Atrell pushes down on Ipava's head and hops out.

Atrell closes the distance and pushes Ipava back into the cage.
Ipava tries for a takedown but Atrell manages to get underhooks.

Atrell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ipava. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ipava throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Atrell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Atrell wants to stand and escape but Ipava is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Paul Atrell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Atrell closes the distance and pushes Ipava back into the cage.

Atrell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ipava shoots in looking for a takedown. Atrell tries to sprawl out of it but Ipava keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Atrell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Atrell delivers a nice body kick.
Atrell throws a leg kick which misses Ipava's front leg but catches the back leg as Ipava tries to avoid it.
Atrell connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ipava closes the distance and clinches up with Atrell, looking for a takedown. Ipava pushes Atrell against the cage but Atrell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Atrell lands with a slapping head kick.
Ipava tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Ipava drops down looking for an ankle pick but Atrell pulls his leg out and moves away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Atrell.
Atrell lands a head kick. Ipava smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Paul Atrell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Atrell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ipava paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ipava shoots for a double leg takedown but Atrell sprawls well. He's pushed Ipava's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Ipava. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
