Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Selly Sel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Selly Sel!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sel moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Chris Jones has been cut.
Danga de danga de dang - Jones scores with a four punch combination!
Sel is looking to clinch.
Jones lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Sel tries to clinch up.
Sel misses with a combination
enabling Jones to counter with a crisp jab.
Selly Sel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones stuffs the takedown.
Sel throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Sel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.

Sel throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jones counters with an inside leg kick.
Sel fails with the takedown.
Chris Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Selly Sel.
Sel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily.
Sel throws an overhand right that lands on Jones's shoulder, as Jones tries to avoid the shot.
Good shot there by Jones.
Sel fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones throws a left and a right that both miss

and Sel counters with a takedown into side control.
Sel takes a little break here. Jones wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

An elbow from Sel crashes against the mat.
Sel looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Jones is avoiding damage well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sel just content to control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sel's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Despite being in the dominant position, Selly Sel just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sel shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Sel uses his free foot to push down on Jones's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones throws a right hand that Sel ducks under and follows up with a left that Sel also avoids with ease.
Sel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A low kick from Sel is predictable there
and Jones counters with a nice body kick.
Jones throws a nice inside leg kick.
Jones misses with a double jab
and Sel counters with a right hand to the body.
Sel fails with a takedown attempt.
Sel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sel misses with a kick to the body
and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A head kick by Sel misses
and Jones counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
An inside leg kick lands from Jones.
Jones misses with a double jab

and Sel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sel.
Sel passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Sel in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Jones is trying to buck Sel off.

Sel is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there.
Sel is breathing heavily.
Sel just content to control the position.

Jones is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sel asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sel advances to full mount.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sel throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Selly Sel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Sel shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A jab from Sel does it's job there.
Sel tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it.
Jones swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Sel counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Sel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sel working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Jones keeping full guard, as Sel tries to pass.
Sel controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jones is looking to stand back up but Sel counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jones.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sel tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jones is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sel lands with a punch from half guard.
Jones trying to control but Sel postures up.
Sel not doing much here.
Sel passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Jones!
Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sel on the ground.
Sel controlling the position easily from mount.
Selly Sel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sel lands with some strikes.
Sel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Chris Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Let's hope that Sel has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Selly Sel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
