The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lott tries to reverse the position but Chen maintains control.

Chen seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lott has hold of Chen's hands but Chen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Chen wants to pass the guard but Lott is defending well.

Vince Chen dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lott tries for a takedown but Chen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lott throws a nice looking combination but Chen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lott connects with a crisp jab.
Chen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lott looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lott is trying to maintain the position but Chen is very close to passing his half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chen connects with a nice short shot to Lott's temple.

Chen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lott with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
