These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cherry keeps the fight on the outside.

Cherry drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cherry scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
roman doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cherry working some strikes from top position.
Cherry postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
roman is looking to sweep but instead, Cherry has passed into half guard.
Cherry working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Cherry prevents roman from improving his position.
Cherry seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

roman is looking for a sweep. Cherry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

roman wants to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cherry connects with a nice short shot to roman's temple.
Cherry is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
roman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if roman tries to get out of the position.
Cherry uses his free foot to push down on roman's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for roman.

Cherry connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Cherry has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
roman is in a horrible position here. Cherry smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Cherry blocks roman's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
roman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cherry on the ground.
roman really wants to buck Cherry off and get back to his feet.
Cherry lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Cherry is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. roman is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. roman flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Cherry anticipates the leg and manages to get behind roman and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Cherry slips an arm under roman chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Cherry has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Cherry is squeezing on roman like an anaconda would it's prey. roman fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
