The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Putin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lesmar manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lesmar jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Putin manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Putin has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Lesmar has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Putin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Putin has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Lesmar is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Putin yanks on the arm and Lesmar is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Putin.
