PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chael Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Schilt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schilt has chosen Jorge BenJor - Salve Simpatia as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Gabriel Schilt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schilt moves into the clinch successfully.
Schilt lands with a light punch inside.

Schilt is trying to trip Sonnen. He has hold of a leg but Sonnen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Schilt persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Schilt pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sonnen is keeping the position for now.
Sonnen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Schilt.
Schilt wants to control from the top but Sonnen keeps moving.
Schilt is looking to work some ground and pound but Sonnen has wrist control.
Sonnen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Schilt wants to control but Sonnen is having none of it.

Schilt sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Sonnen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Schilt throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Sonnen is nestled in close to Schilt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Schilt tries to get to full guard but Sonnen has control of the leg.
Sonnen lands strikes from half guard.
Sonnen lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Schilt is not content to let Sonnen control the position.
Sonnen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Schilt is wriggling around trying to escape.
Schilt is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Schilt is in a horrible position here. Sonnen smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A nice elbow there by Sonnen.

Schilt is rocked!

Oooh a big shot lands for Sonnen! Schilt is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
