PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tonton Lim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Enok Nitti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tonton Lim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Enok Nitti!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nitti fails with a takedown attempt.

Nitti shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lim manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lim could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Lim is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nitti is aware though and is defending well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nitti bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Lim is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Lim tries to escape but Nitti is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lim is looking for a sweep.

Nitti is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lim is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Nitti content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
You can see the frustration on Lim's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Nitti clinches.
Lim can't break the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Lim.

Nitti breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Lim will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Lim is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Nitti is not content to let Lim control the position.
Lim thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nitti's head.

Nitti sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lim's guard.

Nitti uses his free foot to push down on Lim's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lim.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lim throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tonton Lim will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Lim goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Nitti takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Nitti tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lim swivels and escapes.
Nitti displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lim.

Lim clinches.
Lim tries to circle away but Nitti has him pinned against the cage.

Nitti postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lim is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nitti, into his guard.

Nitti is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lim wants to control from the top but Nitti keeps moving.

Lim decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nitti, up you get!

Nitti manages to break the clinch.
Lim shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nitti as he avoids it easily.

Lim jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nitti walks away with a smile on his face. Lim gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lim wants to clinch up but Nitti keeps it at a distance.
Nitti stuffs the takedown.
Lim shoots for a double leg takedown but Nitti sprawls well. He's pushed Lim's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lim comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Nitti has Lim pressed against the cage, preventing Lim from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Lim is trying to force a seperation but Nitti has the dominant position.

Tonton Lim showed his dominance in that final round.
