PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kolejny Zawodnik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Mantle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Mantle as Zawodnik shoots in.
Mantle showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Zawodnik.
Mantle swats away the attempt to clinch by Zawodnik.
Zawodnik throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mantle's waist but Mantle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Zawodnik off to one side.
Zawodnik could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Zawodnik instigates a clinch.

Zawodnik manages to break the clinch.
Zawodnik avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Mantle throws a leg kick but Zawodnik moved away.
Mantle tries to clinch

and Zawodnik counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Zawodnik prevents a takedown attempt there.
Zawodnik is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mantle pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kolejny Zawodnik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zawodnik prevents Mantle from breaking the clinch.
Mantle can't get the takedown.

Zawodnik breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice body kick from Mantle.
Zawodnik tries to clinch but Mantle moves away
and Mantle counters with a two punch combo.

Mantle throws a body kick the misses

so Zawodnik counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Zawodnik trying to control but Mantle is working from the bottom.

Mantle kicks Zawodnik off and gets to his feet.

Mantle moves into range and clinches up with Zawodnik.
A frustrated look appears on Mantle's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mantle can't get the takedown.
Zawodnik prevents Mantle from breaking the clinch.
Mantle jumps guard but Zawodnik stands there with Mantle around his waist. Mantle gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mantle has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mantle wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mantle tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Zawodnik just stands there and leans against the cage.

Zawodnik manages to break the clinch.
Mantle throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Mantle throws a combination. Zawodnik tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zawodnik wants to clinch but Mantle slips to the side
and Mantle counters with a straight right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zawodnik shoots and misses
and Mantle counters with a nice low kick that buckles Zawodnik's knee momentarily.
Zawodnik is breathing heavily.
Mantle throws a combination. Zawodnik tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Zawodnik has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Mantle forces Zawodnik back against the cage and clinches.
Zawodnik wants to stall.
Mantle is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Zawodnik has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mantle avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Mantle pulls guard effortlessly.
Mantle keeping moving, preventing Zawodnik from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Zawodnik avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mantle wants to stand and escape but Zawodnik is having none of it.
Zawodnik is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Zawodnik advances position into side control!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mantle is trying to work for a sweep but Zawodnik has mounted him!
Zawodnik controlling his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mantle can do anything to dispel that myth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Mantle dominated that round.

Zawodnik looks to clinch
and Mantle connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mantle throws a leg kick that is checked

and Zawodnik decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mantle's guard.
Zawodnik postures up in Mantle's guard and throws a big left but Mantle blocks it.
Zawodnik controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Zawodnik is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Zawodnik drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Zawodnik as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Mantle screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Zawodnik! Nice submission victory there!
