The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morte misses with a straight right.
Morte swats away the attempt to clinch by Persson.
Persson lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Persson clinches.

Persson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Persson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Morte's waist but Morte gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Persson off to one side.
Persson shoots in but no luck this time.

and Persson counters with a leg kick.
Persson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Persson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Morte tries to score a power double leg takedown but Persson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Morte somewhat.
Morte fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Persson has Morte up against the cage in a clinch.

Morte pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Persson has his takedown stuffed

and Morte counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Persson moves into full guard.
Morte throwing strikes but missing.

Persson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Morte defends it easily.

Persson controls Morte momentarily but Morte frees himself.
Persson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Morte controls from within his opponent's guard.

Persson pushes Morte off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Morte misses with the body kick
and Persson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

so Morte counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Persson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Morte passes into half guard.
Morte is taking a breather. Persson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Morte in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Persson tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Morte!
