PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Train (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jumi Karka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karka comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Warriors of the world kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jumi Karka!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Train tries for a takedown but Karka sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Karka steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Train.
Good work by Train as he checks the leg kick.
Nice shot by Karka.
Train fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Karka throws a chopping leg kick but Train manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Karka defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Train.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Train. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Karka throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Train stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Karka leaves Train with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Karka is looking to clinch.
Karka cracks Train with an open hand slap.

Karka clinches with his opponent.
Karka gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Train takes a shot to the head.

Karka unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Train wants a takedown.
Karka will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Train up against the cage.
Train tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Karka just stands there and leans against the cage.

Karka is struggling to control the position.
Train fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Karka looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Train tries to pull guard but Karka won't allow it.

Train jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Karka walks away with a smile on his face. Train gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Karka scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Karka throws a good cross that connects.

Karka clinches up against the cage.
Train blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Train jumps guard but Karka stands there with Train around his waist. Train gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Train tries to pull guard but Karka won't allow it.

Train jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Karka walks away with a smile on his face. Train gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Karka lands a good knee to the midsection. Train won't want to take too many of those.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Train keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Train tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Train circles away from the clinch attempt.
Karka throws and low kick but Train moves out of range easily.
Karka dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Train shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Train seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Karka does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Train perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Train wants to pass the guard but Karka is keeping the position.
Karka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Train. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Train is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Karka controls Train momentarily but Train frees himself.
Karka keeping moving, preventing Train from controlling successfully.
Train slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Train tries to free his leg and advance position but Karka is retaining full guard.
Train trying to control the position from guard on top but Karka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Train shoots in but Karka avoids the takedown attempt easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Karka throws a wild body kick that Train sees coming a mile off.
Karka is looking to clinch but Train is avoiding it.
Karka lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Train checks a leg kick.
Karka lands a nice shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
An inside leg kick lands from Karka.
Karka tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Karka doesn't manage to clinch there - Train circles away.
Karka moves in looking to clinch but Train pushes him off.

Karka forces Train back against the cage and clinches.

Karka putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Train in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Train takes a knee to the side of the body.
A nice left hand lands by Karka.
Train managing to block the knees to the body from Karka.
Karka's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Train jumps guard but Karka stands there with Train around his waist. Train gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jumi Karka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Train avoids the head kick by Karka.
Karka is looking to clinch.
Train shoots for a double leg takedown but Karka sprawls well. He's pushed Train's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Train checks the leg kick.

Train shoots in and bounces Karka off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Train wants to control from the top but Karka keeps moving.
Train is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Train trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Karka manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Karka must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Karka is looking to advance position but Train has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Train is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Karka is surviving well by controlling Train's body position as best he can.
Karka has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Train is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Karka knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Karka for a finish.
Karka is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Train off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Train working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Karka is doing well to defend. Train seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Karka is forced to tap and this one is over!
