PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Morote Gari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Morote Gari!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ripper is looking to clinch.
Gari tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Gari moves into the clinch successfully.
Gari managing to block the knees to the body from Ripper.
Ripper goes for a takedown attempt but Gari pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Gari throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gari cracks the inside of Ripper's front leg.
Ripper takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Gari rushes Ripper and presses him up against the ropes.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.

Gari wants the takedown. Ripper is fighting it off but Gari persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ripper's guard against the ropes.

Ripper is working an open guard so Gari takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Gari has closed the distance and engaged Ripper in a clinch.
Ripper landing knees to the body.
Gari managing to block the knees to the body from Ripper.
Gari goes for a takedown attempt but Ripper pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ripper is looking to clinch.

Gari closes the distance and pushes Ripper back into the ropes.

Ripper lands an elbow that stopped Gari in his tracks for a moment.

It looks like Morote Gari has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ripper creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Gari changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ripper fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ripper gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gari to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Gari works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Gari moves nicely into side control.
Gari tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Gari tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gari has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gari tries to advance to mount but Ripper denies him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gari in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Gari is trying to get an arm triangle but Ripper is defending well.
Gari looks gassed!
Ripper is trying to buck Gari off.
Gari laying and praying for a moment but Ripper takes advantage and regains half guard.

Gari is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Gari looking for a guillotine from mount but Ripper is having none of it.

Gari goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ripper is on top in guard.
Ripper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gari on the ground.

Gari had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ripper defends it easily.
Ripper wants to get up but he can't break Gari's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gari working a defensive guard here.
Ripper with a flurry of punches that miss.
Gari bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ripper's guard.

Gari gets to his feet. Ripper looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Gari connects with a high kick.
Ripper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gari swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Gari gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gari gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Ripper regains guard.
Ripper is looking to stand up but Gari isn't so interested in that idea.
Ripper can't keep his opponent in guard - Gari advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gari is looking to take a break and control but Ripper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gari passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ripper!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Morote Gari dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Morote Gari's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gari drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ripper is pushing Gari's head away, looking to escape. Gari manages to hold on to the position though.

Gari is looking to take a break and control but Ripper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gari is working to tighten is grip on Ripper's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Ripper has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gari is really squeezing tight and eventually Ripper passes out! Gari breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
