PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between roger york (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for roger york has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, roger york!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kris Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman wants to clinch up but york keeps it at a distance.
Coleman dives in and grabs york's left leg, looking for a takedown. york pushes down on Coleman's head and hops out.
Coleman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts york as he jumps to the side.

york scores with a takedown into Coleman's guard.

york stands up and waves to Coleman to follow him.
Coleman tries to clinch up but york circles away and keeps his distance.

and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
york is looking to stand up but Coleman isn't so interested in that idea.
york could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

york manages to escape and get back to his feet.
york tries to clinch but Coleman moves out of range.

Coleman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows york to score an easy takedown into full guard.
york throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Coleman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
york has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Coleman is looking for a triangle but york pushes his legs off easily.

york decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That was a close round but I would say that roger york will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
york wants to stand but Coleman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
york is nestled in close to Coleman, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
york is pressing down on Coleman's thigh, looking to free his foot. Coleman is holding on for now.
york not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Coleman is trying to maintain the position but york is very close to passing his half guard.
Coleman is controlling york's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Coleman manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well york has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
