PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sol Goldstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goldstein comes into the arena with Nothing to Prove by H2O blaring out of the sound system. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sol Goldstein!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez is looking to clinch.
Sanchez shoots in and drives through. Goldstein sprawls well.
Sanchez shoots for a double leg takedown but Goldstein sprawls well. He's pushed Sanchez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Sanchez moves into the clinch successfully.
Goldstein is working for takedown but Sanchez is calmly controlling the position for now.

Goldstein gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Sanchez regains guard.
Goldstein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Goldstein tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Goldstein has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sanchez is looking to reverse the position.

Goldstein wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sanchez, who protects the arm well.

Goldstein drops back looking for a leg! Sanchez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sanchez manages to kick Goldstein off! Goldstein jumps back into Sanchez's guard.

Goldstein jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Sanchez manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Sanchez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Goldstein wants to control the pace but Sanchez is squirming around nicely.
Sanchez tries to lock up and control but Goldstein gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Goldstein goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sanchez turns into him and now he's in Goldstein's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sol Goldstein dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


No luck for Sanchez with that takedown attempt.

Goldstein closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goldstein thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sanchez regains half guard.

Goldstein is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Sanchez gets back to full guard.

Goldstein drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Goldstein jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sanchez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Goldstein wants to get back to full guard but Sanchez has passed into side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sanchez is on top in guard.

Goldstein is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Sanchez rolls with it to try and escape but Goldstein cranks on the arm and Sanchez is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sol Goldstein!
