These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Dredge backs up against the cage.

It looks like Barclay Dredge has been cut.
Dredge throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Johnson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Danga de danga de dang - Dredge scores with a four punch combination!
Johnson walks into a straight right hand from Dredge.

Dredge blocks a head kick by Johnson.
Johnson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dredge's head backwards.
Johnson avoids the head kick by Dredge.
Johnson throws a series of punches but Dredge moves out of range.
Johnson throws a combination. Dredge tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Dredge is rocked!
Dredge throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.
Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dredge looks to land a right hand but Johnson moved out of range.
Johnson throws a series of punches but Dredge moves out of range.
Dredge misses with a hook.
Johnson moves out of range as Dredge strikes.

Dredge lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Johnson throws a jab but it's blocked by Dredge.
Dredge does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Dredge throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Dredge thows a body shot but no joy.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Johnson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Dredge throws a hook but Johnson blocks it.
Johnson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dredge throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick by Johnson misses
and Dredge counters with a head kick. That will keep Johnson thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dredge lands a two punch combo.

Johnson throws a right and a left that Dredge avoids nicely.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Dredge closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dredge avoids a punch combination nicely.
Dredge connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Johnson tumbling to the canvas! Dredge pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Johnson was done - good stoppage!
