The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Castle or perhaps it was just good defense by Shar which made him look bad.

Shar gets a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Castle is not content to let Shar control the position.

Shar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Castle is just riding it out for now. Shar eventually gives up the hold.

Shar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Castle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Shar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Castle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shar has managed to get both his arms back between Castle's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shar closes the distance and pushes Castle back into the cage.

Shar has hold of one of Castle's legs. Castle is fighting the takedown attempt but Shar gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Shar wants to control from the top but Castle keeps moving.
Shar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Shar controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Mike Shar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Castle has his foot on Shar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shar works his way back into a safe position though.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Shar here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Castle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Castle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Castle is tightening it up a little... Shar has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Shar reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Shar taps out! nice BJJ there by Castle!
