Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jackie Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nelson Muntz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Day comes to the cage accompanied by Hammerfall - At the End of the Rainbow. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Nelson Muntz!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muntz moves into range and connects with a jab.
Day misses with a takedown attempt - Muntz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Muntz throws a right hand that Day ducks under and follows up with a left that Day also avoids with ease.
Muntz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Day circles away quickly and effectively.
Muntz misses with a few strikes there.
Day is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Muntz lands with a good body shot.
Day shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Muntz as he avoids it easily.
Day tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Muntz swivels and escapes.

Day is breathing heavily.
Some wild striking there from Muntz.
Muntz sizes up Day with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Day is just content to waste time from the top position. Muntz takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Day loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Muntz pulls Day in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Day won't allow Muntz to sweep him here.
Muntz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Day on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Day tries to get out of the position.
Day in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Day regains half guard.
Muntz misses with a head shot. Day uses the momentum to regain guard.
Muntz throws a big right hand that misses.
Day avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Muntz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Muntz is working Day over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Day lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Muntz!

Muntz tries to hold on but Day postures up.
Day connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Muntz wants to hold on but Day pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Muntz throws a lazy right hand but Day sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Muntz stalks Day and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Day's face. Day staggers backwards, shaken.
Nelson Muntz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Day tries to clinch there but Muntz circles away.
Muntz misses with a double jab.
Day slips a jab and a cross from Muntz.

Day clinches.
Day tries for a takedown but Muntz manages to get underhooks.

Day works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Day postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Day thows a big elbow that misses.
Muntz is breathing heavily.

Muntz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Muntz throws a right and a left that Day avoids nicely.
Day swinging wildly here.
Muntz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Day counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Muntz!

Day throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Day punching from mount but Muntz doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Day lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Muntz tries to hold on but Day pushes him away.
Day looking to control but Muntz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Muntz holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Day tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Muntz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Muntz wants it to stay on the feet.

Muntz cracks Day with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Muntz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Muntz getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

and Day counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Day.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Muntz managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Day.
Day wants to lay and pray for a moment but Muntz keeps working.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Day is looking to clinch but Muntz is avoiding it.
Nelson Muntz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Muntz misses with a wild combination.
Jackie Day is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Muntz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Day gets a clinch.
Muntz gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Day.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jackie Day. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Muntz stops a takedown attempt from Day.
Day has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Muntz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Muntz has had enough of the clinch but Day keeps him there for the moment.

Muntz lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Day sprawling to the canvas. Muntz follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Day hang on?

Muntz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Muntz throwing shots but Day is blocking nicely.

Muntz winds up and cracks Day with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Day moves into full guard.
Muntz working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Muntz throws and elbow that misses. Day uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Muntz's guard. Nice move by Day!

Muntz is trying to keep Day in close.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Muntz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jackie Day overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Muntz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nelson Muntz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Muntz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
