The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avent shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kozakov defends it nicely.

Avent rushes Kozakov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Avent is trying to drag Kozakov to the mat but Kozakov just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Kozakov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Avent.
Tolya Kozakov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Avent.
Kozakov leaves Avent with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Kozakov.
Avent tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kozakov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Avent darts in and clinches Kozakov up against the cage.
Kozakov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Tolya Kozakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice body kick there by Kozakov.

Avent on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kozakov. Kozakov obviously looking to wear him down.
Kozakov fakes the leg kick and cracks Avent in the body.

Avent blocks a head kick by Kozakov.
Kozakov steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Avent is out on his feet! Kozakov sets himself and nearly takes Avent's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
