PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Behr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Sergio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sergio comes into a darkened arena with his song building. sandstrom kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Behr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Paulo Sergio!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Sergio. No joy for Behr on that attempt.
Sergio misses with the combination.
Behr slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Behr looks for a takedown but Sergio sprawls well.
Sergio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Behr.
Behr lands the left hand.
Behr fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Behr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sergio is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Behr.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Behr throws a left and a right that both miss

and Sergio counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Sergio drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sergio jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sergio drops back, looking for a kneebar! Behr looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Behr looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Behr!

Sergio is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Behr pulls his head out easily.

Behr stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Sergio to get to his feet.

Behr has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sergio avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Behr lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sergio circles away quickly and effectively.
Sergio closes the distance and clinches up with Behr, looking for a takedown. Sergio pushes Behr against the cage but Behr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sergio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Behr.

Sergio bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Sergio is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Behr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Sergio displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Behr.
Behr shoots for a takedown but Sergio saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Behr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Behr showed some decent athleticism there.
Behr tries to stand and escape but Sergio is controlling the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Danny Behr will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Sergio uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Behr.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Behr shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Sergio pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sergio closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Behr is not content to let Sergio control the position.

Behr throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Behr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sergio on the ground.

Sergio is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Behr sees it coming and defends easily.

Sergio looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Sergio counters with a head kick. That will keep Behr thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Behr looks to land a combination. Sergio sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Danny Behr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Behr throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Behr shoots in for a double leg but Sergio sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Behr shoots in and bounces Sergio off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sergio avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Sergio is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Sergio had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Behr defends it easily.
Behr trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sergio's guard.

Sergio working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Behr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Behr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Behr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sergio has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Behr has managed to get both his arms back between Sergio's legs - danger averted.

Sergio is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Behr is looking to work some ground and pound but Sergio has wrist control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Paulo Sergio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
