Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthew Johnson!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Johnson advances position into side control!
Butchers is not content to let Johnson control the position.
Butchers seems a little lost for a moment, as Johnson dominates the positioning.
Johnson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Butchers is trying to improve his position.

Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Butchers knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Johnson tries for a kimura but Butchers is defending well.
Butchers pushes Johnson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Johnson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Matthew Johnson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Butchers sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Butchers scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Butchers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Johnson is trying to maintain the position but Butchers is very close to passing his half guard.

Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Butchers manages to get himself to full guard.
Butchers wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matthew Johnson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Butchers, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Johnson lands with an uppercut that bounces Butchers off the cage and back into rage.

Butchers is trying to reverse the position but instead Johnson has taken his back - oops!
Johnson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Butchers's body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Butchers taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Johnson.
