Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giovani Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Giovani Gomes was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Giovani Gomes!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gomes.

Gomes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garcia swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gomes postures up.
Garcia seems keen to control Gomes's posture.
Garcia looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Garcia is pulling down on Gomes's head to control his posture.

Gomes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Garcia dives on top into guard.

Gomes is looking for a triangle but Garcia pushes his legs off easily.

Gomes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Garcia seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gomes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Garcia defends it easily.

Garcia got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gomes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Garcia has managed to get both his arms back between Gomes's legs - danger averted.
Garcia is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Marcelo Garcia just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Garcia lands a nice shot that snaps Gomes's head back.

Gomes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Garcia pinned against the cage. Garcia gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gomes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Garcia's waist but Garcia gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomes off to one side.
Garcia connects with a right hand. Gomes shakes it off.

Gomes is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Garcia has cracked Gomes with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Garcia lands another huge swinging hook and Gomes tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Gomes, before Garcia can land any more shots!
