The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crescent changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Crescent bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shelby's head backwards.
Shelby throws a predictable looking body shot
and Crescent counters with a three punch combo that has Shelby backing up. Shelby nods at Crescent to acknowledge the strikes.
Crescent takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Crescent swings for the body but Shelby moves out of range.

Crescent feints and as Shelby raises his hands in defense, Crescent changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Crescent throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shelby works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Crescent chips away with some ground and pound.
Shelby preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Crescent trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shelby looking to hit a scissor sweep but Crescent is one step ahead there.
Crescent advances to half guard.
Shelby wants to improve his position but Crescent is controlling well.
Shelby has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Crescent is working away from the top position though.

Crescent scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Shelby is looking for a sweep. Crescent is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shelby can do anything to dispel that myth.

Shelby holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Shelby throws a right and a left that Crescent avoids nicely.

and Crescent counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Shelby!

Crescent is in the full mount, landing strikes.

It looks like Nate Shelby has been cut.
Shelby takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Crescent's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
