PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Liv Serapha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel McVicar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Serapha kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Feet of Flames - Warriors. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel McVicar!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McVicar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Serapha sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Serapha looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
McVicar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
McVicar tries for a takedown but Serapha sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

McVicar ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Serapha shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McVicar sprawls well. McVicar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Serapha gets slowly back to his feet.

McVicar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McVicar tries to move into full mount but can't pass Serapha's legs.

You can see the frustration on Serapha's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McVicar throws an elbow but Serapha slips to the side and avoids it well.
A lull in the action here as McVicar stalls from top position.
McVicar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Serapha. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Serapha shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

McVicar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Daniel McVicar just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McVicar tries for a takedown but Serapha sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
McVicar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Serapha tries to avoid it but McVicar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Serapha to the ground. Serapha escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Serapha is looking to regain half guard here but McVicar keeps moving and retains side control.

Daniel McVicar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Serapha keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
McVicar tries for a takedown but Serapha sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Liv Serapha is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McVicar throws a shot to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts McVicar, as that shot connected.
McVicar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

McVicar lands a right hook to the body.
McVicar wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
McVicar lands a nice hook to Serapha's body. Serapha takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
McVicar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

McVicar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Serapha thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
McVicar is staying active underneath Serapha, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McVicar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Serapha swivels and escapes.
McVicar is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Serapha rather than just go for the knockout.
Serapha moves in looking to clinch but McVicar pushes him off.

Serapha is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McVicar's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McVicar's back!

Serapha is really struggling to control McVicar but he's trying to hold on to the position.
McVicar has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Serapha.

Serapha looking to break McVicar's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. McVicar remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Serapha will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McVicar is in bad spot here.
Serapha punishes McVicar with strikes from the back mount.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Serapha's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
McVicar looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Serapha has the hooks in. McVicar is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Liv Serapha.
Well McVicar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
