The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mc Donald just misses with a punch to the body.
Bates blocks a head kick by Mc Donald.
Bates misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mc Donald fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Bates swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mc Donald throws a looping overhand right but Bates ducks down to avoid it.
Bates gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bates shoots in for a takedown but Mc Donald shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mc Donald throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mc Donald throws a head kick that misses.
Bates dives in and grabs Mc Donald's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mc Donald pushes down on Bates's head and hops out.
Mc Donald tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bates dodges the punch combination from Mc Donald.
Bates closes the distance and clinches up with Mc Donald, looking for a takedown. Bates pushes Mc Donald against the cage but Mc Donald circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Norm Bates. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mc Donald.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mc Donald throws a sloppy head kick and Bates moves out of range easily.
Bates fails with a takedown attempt.
Bates is breathing heavily.

Mc Donald lands a left and a right that send Bates crashing to the mat, dazed. Mc Donald thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Bates is rocked!
Mc Donald throws a nice inside leg kick.

Good leg kick by Mc Donald there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Bates. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Mc Donald throws a series of punches but Bates avoids them all with ease.
Mc Donald swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bates counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bates blocks a head kick by Mc Donald.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Mc Donald, right into the meat.
Bates displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mc Donald throws out the jab.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mc Donald.
Mc Donald with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bates takes one to the chin there.

Mc Donald lands a left and a right that send Bates crashing to the mat, dazed. Mc Donald thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Oh Bates is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mc Donald closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Bates out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
