PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kraig Mackey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Midas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Seth Midas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kraig Mackey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Seth Midas!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mackey swings for the body but Midas moves out of range.
Midas wants to clinch.
Midas fails with a takedown attempt.

Midas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mackey manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Midas lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Mackey is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Midas cracks Mackey with a solid left hand.
Midas chips away with some ground and pound.
Midas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Mackey is looking for a triangle but Midas pushes his legs off easily.
Mackey is breathing heavily.
Midas keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mackey's head.

Midas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Midas stands up over Mackey, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Midas is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mackey pulls Midas in close to prevent any damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Midas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mackey is working an open guard so Midas takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Midas throws a head kick but Mackey moves out of range.

Kraig Mackey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seth Midas.

Midas wants to stand up but Mackey is controlling him.

Mackey has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Midas wriggles free and stands up.

It looks like Kraig Mackey has been cut.
Midas tries for a takedown but Mackey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Seth Midas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Midas with that takedown attempt.
Mackey shoots for a takedown but Midas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Midas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mackey is trying to control Midas's posture but Midas avoids it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Seth Midas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Midas shoots in for a double leg but Mackey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Midas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mackey's waist but Mackey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Midas off to one side.

Mackey throws a combination. Midas tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Midas tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Midas is trying to maintain the position but Mackey is very close to passing his half guard.
Mackey wants to take a breather but Midas is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kraig Mackey.
I think Midas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
