Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gaiden Shinji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Yo Yo Scrape by Skinny Puppy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tom Thompson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shinji throws out the jab.
Shinji looks to land a combination but Thompson avoids it well.
Thompson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shinji's waist but Shinji gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thompson off to one side.
Thompson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shinji circles away.

Thompson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shinji looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Shinji tries to improve position but can't.
Thompson looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Shinji is avoiding damage well.
Shinji is letting Thompson control him for a moment.
Shinji looks to move to half guard but instead Thompson has passed into mount! Damn!

Thompson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Shinji has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Thompson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shinji can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
