PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarppi Virne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raya Ryay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Virne might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Frank Klepacki - Anticipating. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryay shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Virne defends it nicely.
Ryay shoots in but no luck this time.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ryay.
Ryay wants to control for a moment but Virne uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Well, if Ryay is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Virne wants to get back to his feet.
Ryay is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Ryay postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ryay sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Virne's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Virne is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ryay defends well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ryay throws a strike but Virne rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Ryay scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ryay changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Virne tries to avoid it but Ryay manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Virne to the ground. Virne escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Virne looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ryay with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ryay jumps guard but Virne stands there with Ryay around his waist. Ryay gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Virne connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ryay's face.
Virne is pressed up against the cage. Ryay has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Virne down to the mat. Virne avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Ryay gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Well Virne has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
