Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paulo Mendosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gary Mounfield!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendosa avoids a kick to the body.
Mendosa ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Mounfield lands a body shot.
Mendosa checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A combination from Mendosa does no damage.
Paulo Mendosa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mounfield avoids the head kick by Mendosa.
Mendosa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Mendosa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mendosa lands in his opponent's guard.
Mendosa tries to free his leg and advance position but Mounfield is retaining full guard.
Mounfield pulls Mendosa in to control the position.
Mounfield manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mounfield throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Mounfield avoids the attempt from Mendosa to control.

Mounfield thowing shots but they're missing.
Mendosa keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mendosa regains half guard.
Mendosa wants to get back to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mounfield is looking to pass Mendosa's guard but actually Mendosa recovers to full guard.
Mounfield slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mounfield trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendosa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mendosa looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Mendosa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mendosa is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Mendosa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mounfield.
Mounfield won't allow Mendosa to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mendosa swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Mounfield counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mounfield throws a leg kick but Mendosa sees it coming and moves out of range.
Mendosa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mendosa lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
A combination from Mounfield does no damage.
Mounfield is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mounfield lands a slapping body shot.

Mounfield ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mendosa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mounfield is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mendosa.
A cross from Mendosa lands.
Mounfield connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mounfield lands with a thumping leg kick.
Gary Mounfield is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mendosa is breathing heavily.
Mounfield connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


Mendosa is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mounfield steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mendosa.
Oh Mendosa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A head kick by Mounfield - that's a beauty! Mendosa is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Mounfield can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
