The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romano connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Black to the floor! Romano dives in looking for the finish!
Black is rocked!
It looks like Jack Black has been cut.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Romano prevents Black from improving his position.
Black is still in real trouble! Can Romano finish him?
Black is defending against the submission attempts here by Romano.
Romano tries to pass the half guard into mount. Black knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Black seems to have recovered his senses.

Romano wants to free his trapped foot but Black is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Black is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Black gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Black gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Black apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Romano throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Romano tries a head kick but it misses.

Andre Romano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Black.
Black fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Romano sprawls well initially but Black persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Black working over Romano with some ground and pound. Romano looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Black uses his free foot to push down on Romano's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Romano.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Black takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
