Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Duplan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Duplan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribeiro takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Duplan swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Ribeiro.
Ribeiro looks gassed!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Duplan waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Ribeiro. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Ribeiro to the canvas! Can he finish him!?


Ribeiro is rocked!
Duplan working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Ribeiro is still in real trouble! Can Duplan finish him?
Duplan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ribeiro seems to have recovered his senses.

Ribeiro looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Duplan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Duplan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Duplan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ribeiro, up you get!
Ribeiro takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Duplan instigates a clinch.
Duplan lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ribeiro.

A left hand lands to the body for Duplan.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Duplan pulls guard.

Duplan pushes Ribeiro off and scrambles back to his feet.
Duplan scores with a jab. Ribeiro acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Duplan cracks Ribeiro with a big right hand and Ribeiro goes down!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ribeiro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Duplan controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duplan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Eduardo Duplan just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Duplan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ribeiro stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Duplan moves into the clinch successfully.

Duplan makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Ribeiro has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Duplan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Duplan pushes Ribeiro back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Duplan pulls Ribeiro into guard.
Duplan wants to get back to his feet but Ribeiro is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Eduardo Duplan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duplan lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Duplan darts in and clinches Ribeiro up against the cage.
Ribeiro drops down looking for an ankle pick but Duplan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Duplan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Duplan digs a good hook to Ribeiro's body.
Duplan lands a slapping body shot.

Ribeiro tries to keep at a distance but Duplan has taken the fight into the clinch.

Duplan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Duplan thuds his right hand into Ribeiro's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Duplan stuns Ribeiro with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Duplan lands with a shot to the body.
Ribeiro doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eduardo Duplan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ribeiro takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Duplan clobbers Ribeiro with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Ribeiro takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Ribeiro fails with a takedown attempt.

Duplan closes the distance and clinches.
Duplan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ribeiro can do to turn this around?

Duplan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ribeiro shoots in and drives through. Duplan sprawls well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Duplan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ribeiro, pushing him back against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Duplan breaks the clinch.
Duplan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Duplan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ribeiro's head.
Duplan connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Eduardo Duplan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ribeiro takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Duplan pulls guard effortlessly.

Duplan is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Duplan drags the fight down to the ground.

Duplan pushes Ribeiro off and gets back to his feet.
Ribeiro takes a shot to the body in his stride.

A left lands for Duplan.

Duplan clinches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ribeiro's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Duplan controlling the action here for a moment.

Duplan throws a nice looking combination but Ribeiro bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ribeiro fails with the takedown.
Eduardo Duplan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Victor Ribeiro.
Duplan throws a series of strikes that have Ribeiro backpedaling.

Duplan uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ribeiro has time to react.

Duplan closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Duplan lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Duplan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ribeiro.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ribeiro closes this distance looking for a takedown but Duplan circles away.
Ribeiro dives in and grabs Duplan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Duplan pushes down on Ribeiro's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Duplan wants to stand up but Ribeiro is controlling him.
Ribeiro is looking to work some ground and pound but Duplan has wrist control.

Duplan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ribeiro.
Duplan is trying to drag Ribeiro to the mat but Ribeiro just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Duplan is pressed up against the cage. Ribeiro has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Duplan down to the mat. Duplan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Duplan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Duplan.
Duplan tries to bum rush Ribeiro with a series of wild strikes but Ribeiro uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Ribeiro misses with a takedown attempt - Duplan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Duplan lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Ribeiro closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ribeiro lands in his opponent's guard.

Ribeiro has gone for a leg lock! Duplan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ribeiro's guard.

Ribeiro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Duplan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Duplan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Eduardo Duplan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ribeiro is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Duplan is aware though and is defending well.
Duplan controls from within his opponent's guard.

Ribeiro looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Well Duplan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
