PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robb Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerome Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stark comes to the cage accompanied by Down With The Sickness. Baker has chosen Hits From the Bong as his entrance music. Robb Stark had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Jerome Baker enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark looks to land a combination but Baker avoids it well.

Baker gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stark is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Baker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stark doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stark manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Baker drops back looking for a leg! Stark is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stark manages to kick Baker off! Baker jumps back into Stark's guard.

Baker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Stark is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Stark is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Baker has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Baker feints and as Stark raises his hands in defense, Baker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Baker postures up in Stark's guard and throws a big left but Stark blocks it.
Stark has a closed guard, preventing Baker from standing up.
Baker prevents Stark from getting back to his feet.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stark is on top in guard.

Stark thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Stark decides to stand up, so the ref orders Baker to his feet.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Baker crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Stark - the referee stops the clock and Baker gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Stark. Baker manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Stark throws a head kick that misses.
Baker keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Stark counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Stark.

Stark successfully pulls guard.
Baker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stark swivels though and keeps the full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Baker connects with a couple of short punches.
Baker postures up and lands a big shot to Stark's brow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Robb Stark will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Stark misses with a double jab.

Baker gets the takedown into side control.

Baker decides to stand back up. Baker steps back and let's Stark get back to his feet.
Stark pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A combination from Stark does no damage.

Baker closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Baker lands in his opponent's guard.
Baker lands a couple of digs.

Jerome Baker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Baker stands and steps away. Stark gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Stark moves into range and clinches up with Baker.

Baker has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Stark regains guard immediately.
Baker wants to control from the top but Stark keeps moving.

Baker stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Baker closes the distance and clinches.

Baker gets to his feet. Stark looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Baker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stark, pushing him back against the cage.

Stark is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Stark seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Baker is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
